The University of Luxembourg  is European through and through: located at the heart of the European Union, it is by nature multilingual and international (50% of students are from outside  the Grand Duchy).

The popularity of the university is based on research  - especially in its priority research areas of materials science, computer science and computer security, European and international law, finance and financial innovation, education and digital and contemporary history. The transdisciplinary themes of health and systems biomedicine as well as data modelling and simulation are also specialities of the university.

Most dormitories have been renovated and equipped with modern appliances and internet access.

Housing costs depend on the location, quality of the accommodation and on the season but the prices per month usually range from €350–550 in the dormitories to €650–1100 in private flats.

The ISIC (International Student Identity Card) card is the most advantageous card for all students. It allows cardholders to get student discounts for transport, restaurants, cinemas, museums, exhibitions and concerts.

The average monthly living expenses for a student in Lithuania are approximately 800-1300 euros. 

You may apply for the student visa at the competent representative authority at the earliest six months before your planned travel date. You should not apply later than 15 calendar days before your planned stay.

International students have the right to work part-time while studying in Luxembourg as long as they are enrolled in a university.

International students from non-EU countries can work up to 15 hours per week during studies and 40 hrs per week during holidays after obtaining the temporary residence permit.
