Today, Croatian higher education encompasses 135 accredited higher education institutions. Alongside research-oriented universities, Croatia also offers polytechnics, offering professional study programmes to prepare you for a career.

Depending on the type of accommodation (student dorm or privately rented housing) and the city in Croatia. Larger cities like Zagreb or Split as well as popular touristic destination are more expensive than smaller ones as a rule.

Subsidized food is available in public student restaurants, where 3 meals per day food plan allow for good quality and quantity food plan for approximately 100 to 170 EUR / month.

The average monthly living expenses for a student in Croatia are approximately 550 euros. 

You may apply for the student visa at the competent representative authority at the earliest six months before your planned travel date. You should not apply later than 15 calendar days before your planned stay.

International students can work in Croatia using the Student Service administered by the Student Centre. Student Service provides matchmaking services, connecting students with prospective employers.

The student work positions offered by the Student Service are part-time and temporary, allowing students to adjust their work engagement to their student obligations. The salary is calculated per hour and the minimum net amount is ~3,51 EUR/hour.
