Kosovo is a landlocked country located in the center of the Balkan Peninsula in Southern Europe. Actually, Kosovo is the youngest country in Europe. Kosovo has developed their education by adjusting it to European and global contemporary standards. Higher education is available in public and private institutions where students can choose their schedule to be full time or part-time.Kosovo provides very versatile education and has invested a lot in its quality which has become very attractive to foreign students.

Since Kosovo has settled for peace, it has been one of the most talked about nations since the conflict and has become very attractive to diplomats.

Average length of a full-time higher education programme:

  • Bachelor’s degree programme: 3-4 years
  • Master’s degree programme: 1.5-2 years
  • Doctorate/PhD: 3-4 years

Tuition fee for non EU-students:

  • Tuition fees range from EUR 1000 to 3000 per year and depend on the institution and study program.

Accommodation approx. 150 euros

Housing costs depend on the location, quality of the accommodation and on the season but the prices per month usually range from €100–150 in the dormitories to €350–500 in private flats.

Food approx. 150 euros

Studies and personal requirements (books, culture, recreation): approx. 100 euros

Total per month approx. 450 Euros

The average monthly living expenses for a student in Kosovo are approximately 450-600 euros. 

You may apply for the student visa at the competent representative authority at the earliest six months before your planned travel date. You should not apply later than 15 calendar days before your planned stay.

The work permit of type F (for Students) is given to foreign individuals who study in Kosovo for educational year in continuation. This work permit is given only for half-time during the educational year and with full time work during the recessional between Academic year or Semesters.
